Recently I completed work on the website for Conservation Hardware, a proposed non-profit store to help reduce Colorado Springs’ energy footprint. One of my primary considerations in its design was to mirror the style I created for our printed media, and to present a lot of information quickly and easily (though the footprint is pretty big and will require an overhaul at some point in the future). Its unusual layout has gained some local attention, and I hope to get the opportunity to grow it and update it in the future. Have a look at conservationhardware.org.
Each New Year’s Eve, I listen to a playlist of the influential music from the year before. In years past, I used to cook that playlist up sometime around Christmas, but I found that that colored my vision based on where I was at the time. These days I compile the list as the year goes on, revising and shuffling things around as time passes. This year I decided to take it up another notch, and hunt down music videos and live performances from YouTube.
The only song I’m missing right now is “Always Be” by John Wesley. Also, I’m very unhappy with the Porcupine Tree videos available. Even Less is atrocious, and the very cool “Stranger By the Minute” claymation video cuts out right before the awesome guitar solo.
if they don’t know
they don’t know they’re gonna find out soon enough
i’m so hot
as if that hurt
did you wash it plaster it around some
you don’t even have to wind your own stuff
bring in the marines
i’ve heard so many other things
and it was all brown
we’re the suction ones
the ones that suck it up
and i don’t tell her to the eye
till i did that thing
i bet you’d like a blue boost
try a new roost
loosen the strap with the two metal ends
rest your head against the steel
blow into the tube
show me your legs
help me show me your pinksmile
walking up the aisle
show the thing underneath your seat
show me a tiny plastic something
a song like a squealing pig
like a train with wheels
in the dark with the lights off
concealed
i’m thinking of you still…
k.h.
